Since 2020, the US has been rocked by upheavals at home and abroad, from the George Floyd uprisings to the war in Ukraine. And the media narratives surrounding two very different Black women athletes, Angel Reese and Brittney Griner, offer insights into the shifting and hotly contested politics of contemporary race and gender.
